PUAC aims at alleviating poverty of rural families living in the outskirts of the city of Kampong Speu. The beneficiaries are 252 poor farmers and their families living in 16 villages. PUAC is offering them a scope of services adapted to their main needs. The support given allows them to improve the quality and the quantity of their agricultural productions and to increase their level of incomes. Farmers receive training for the production of high value added vegetables. The vegetable produced are chemical free meaning that there is no use of chemical supporters/substances during the production or post-harvest processes. PUAC became an agricultural cooperative since June 2009. The cooperative is managed by farmers and provide services as financial support, quality control, transport and marketing, the procurement of agricultural inputs, and direct support to auto-promotion.

PUAC objective is to strengthen support to the production of high added value and chemical free vegetables and the organization of the commercialization channel of the farmer's produces to hotels, restaurants and supermarkets of Phnom Penh; thus directly contributing to the increase of farmers’ incomes.

PUAC has 2 hectares of land at Kampong Speu to implement research and development activities for trials of new varieties and organic cultural practices. Some high quality vegetables not interesting for farmers are as well produced in the centre.

The centre provides services to farmers such as:

  • Research and development on new varieties and production techniques
  • Technical training and advice
  • Agricultural inputs (purchase and distribution)
  • Gathering farmers’ production
  • Quality control of their products
  • Financial support
  • Organising the marketing of farm products
