PUAC

"PUAC is getting organised in order to get full "chemical free" certification by the Cambodian Agriculture Association (COrAA). COrAA has provided two trainings to PUAC Master Farmers on the Internal Control System (ICS). The ICS involves the registration in a record book by each farmer of every and any action taken during the vegetable production cycle. The Controller of PUAC cooperative verify that the procedure is properly fulfilled. Other COrAA members are making surprise visits to control that PUAC applies the procedure and that there are no chemical used to produce these vegetables. COrAA is seeking also to apply chemical residue tests during these cross-controls. In parallel, a traceability system is developed by Khmer Farmer Garden (KFG) to enable the tracing back of each farmer' production. The vegetables produced by the 62 farmers from PUAC who apply this procedure are sold to specific markets requiring "chemical free' quality, such as home basket delivery, supermarkets and some restaurants."
