Hundreds of associated farmers from 16 villages are producing vegetables. After receiving training, farmers are responsible for a part of production for a pre-defined crop cycle; a production contract determines the protocol to be followed by the farmer. This protocol is strictly controlled to ensure that farmers are respecting practices. Thus farmers are getting additional revenues generated by the sale of good quality production from their farm. Since June 2009, PUAC became an agricultural cooperative. Farmers’ members are organized in self-help groups headed by a Master Farmer in order to disseminate and share their knowledge and the means of production. Participatory programs are implemented in order to reinforce farmers implication in PUAC management. |
